Usborne Phonics Readers have been created in consultation with a language expert, taking into account the latest research on the most effective ways of teaching reading.
Children who are learning to read will benefit from the high interest phonics-based text and story which has been specially written to help children learn to read.
Children who have just learned to read can enjoy the lively stories with very little guidance from an adult, gaining the experience and enthusiasm they need to become fully confident readers.
Stephen Cartwright’s delightful illustrations complement the text and are designed to stimulate further interest. There is a duck to find on every page. Fold-out pages add to the enjoyment and will delight both children and adults.
There is also a page of helpful notes for parents. The inside back cover lists all the irregular words (sight words) used in the story and all the regular words broken into phonemes (sounds).
The original Easy Words to Read series included 12 titles. As these go out of print they are being replaced with additional titles which do not include the Cartwright duck or flaps. The earlier books are now called the Phonics Reader with Flaps series and the later books simply called the Phonics Reader Series.
